Fridge is Leaking Water

Is you fridge leaking water? This can be caused by a few different problems. Check out the 7 most common problems and their solutions below. They are all relatively cheap and don’t require too much fridge repair experience in order to do them.

Why the Fridge is Leaking Water

1. The defrost drain is clogged.

If the fridge is leaking water it is possible that the defrost drain is clogged. If the defrost drain is clogged with ice or debris the water will drip over the side and accumulate at the bottom of the fridge. If enough water spills over, it is possible that it can overflow and spill onto the ground. Check out the following guide to find out how to fix this problem.

Check out the guide below to find out how to replace the water inlet valve.

4. The water filter head is broken.

Check the water filter head to make sure that the seal is in good shape. If it is cracked or torn, it can cause a leak.

5. The drain pan is broken.

If the fridge is leaking water, the drain pan may be broken or cracked. The drain pan is located at the bottom of the fridge. When the fridge is defrosting, the water is dripped down from the evaporator and deposited in the drain pan. The hot air from the condenser coils is then blown over the water to evaporate it. If the pan if broken and leaking, the water will spill out before it can evaporate.

Check out this handy guide to see how to replace the drain pan.
