Why is My Fridge Ice Maker Overflowing?
Normal Ice Is Being Made
1. Make sure that the bucket is properly placed underneath the ice maker.
If it is not in the correct position, the ice can spill over or not fall inside the bucket. This will cause your fridge ice maker to overflow.
2. Make sure that the feeler arm is not broken.
If it is broken, the ice maker will not know when the bucket is full and continue to produce ice eventually causing the ice to overflow. Check out the guide below for some replacement ice makers. However, make sure to check the model number and get the correct replacement part.
Not Normal Ice Is Being Made
1. Check water fill time.
IIf the water fill time is too long then the fridge ice maker will start to overflow. The excess water will start to build up first in the bucket. It will freeze as one large sheet or block. Over time this will build up and spill out of the bucket into the rest of the freezer. Make sure that the water fill time is correct.
To check the water fill time, time how long the water is being dispensed for. It should be around 7.5 seconds. If this is not correct, readjust the water fill time. You can take off the front cover of the ice maker and use a screw driver to increase or decrease the water fill time.
2. Check the amount of water that is dispensed.
If the water fill time is correct, but the water is still overflowing, you will need to replace the water valve.
